"... I think they are busy with sharing their money for newly sold products..."

Yup. They are drinking beer right now with your money. And what did you get in return? A 3 year old card that won't even support a new OS. The nerve of those guys. I want my money back too. Why don't you start a petition so that they can make these drivers and also drivers for the next 10 OS's or we demand our money back

Ok, I feel really sorry if my words in my
1st msg are so bad for Chris. I don't
mean that personally, I used "idiot", because
he used the nick name "this_idiot", and I
didn't know "Chris", so how should I call
him then? Anyway, I like to visit this forum
also because it is worth to do it.

        Hi Swampie!
        I don't think Marvel G200 is a too old
card to get a support under Win2000. I
am not such rich guys or freaks that
buy some thing as soon as it comes out.
And I think Marvel G400 use also a similary
chip tech with the video editing, so that is
why you can't see any beta driver on their
offical site for the Marvel G400 for WIn2k either. So do you want to say that is also
too old(or too new) to get support. If so,
I want to ask, why they always sell something
that they are not be able to support?

By the way, the DVD addOn comes first last
year in Europe. I don't think it is old either. But when they ship out the new version Matrox Desktop Tools(5.30), they
say DVD addon will not work with this new
version. Is that not funny, a driver names
final version is out but not able to
        work with one component. ;(

Yes, the Marvel Series or RRG work under
Win9x, but for video editing such heavy jobs,
why not run under NT technology, it is more
        effecient I think.

          Hi Xin,

          Back on track

OK, the position with Matrox has ALWAYS been that they won't discuss future driver releases at any level. Not even to confirm that there will be one, let alone release timescales or what features will/won't be supported.

This is company policy and comes from high up in the organisation. Believe me, I've tried everything from trickery to crowbars to prise open the secret box, but seldom with any success at all. The reason that they work this way is because they've been slagged off so many times in the past about late driver releases. And then on the top, if they had to cut some functionality in order to meet release schedules then another crowd of users would be unhappy too. So they see it as a no-win situation.

I think we can expect a statement on Windows2000 driver support on 17th Feb (if W2K actually gets released on that day).

And in answer to your original question, no I don't work for Matrox. In fact I don't work for anyone at the moment, I've been unemployed for 4 months.

          Cheers

          Chris

I don't know how old the Marvel G200 is but I think it's near 3 years old for them and around 2 years for us.

They do have NT4 drivers so you can use that.

I personally don't think it's fair for any of us to expect manufacturers to support future OS's or else they won't make money.

Or, they can start selling drivers for an OS as long as that OS is not on the box's min/max requirements.

About that zoran module, you might as well forget about it. It won't even work with powerdesk 5 yet. AFAIK, windvd is only dvd app that works under win2k right now. If you have a strong system, scrap the module and get that instead.

                Hi Swampie!
I have Win98, WInNT and Win2K in my machine.
Yes, you can see TV under NT, but the old
NT doesn't support USB! And directX also sucks.
Even then, you are probably right. The
driver story is a coorparation between
                the OS and HW manufacture.

I don't like Microsoft, they made so much
OSs, but none of them is perfect. Perhaps
                Win2K is a better one?!

Cor blimey guv'nor, what an entrance !! Now that is one way to make yourself known on a new forum but not one I would personally recommend.

Although saying that, there was a whole page of new threads in front of me and I picked this one first !!
