When connecting coax TV input and using a soundblaster live sp/dif output, does the marvel tuner actually also decrypt DTS sound or is it just 2 channels?
You think you can receive a digital DTS signal with you (analog) Coax TV Input??? No this won't work. Perhaps you are luckky and own one of these really new DTS Sat-receivers? I think not, but if you of such a Receiver it could be possible, but I don't know any software to do this task.
I asked this same question on this forum a while ago. The answer seems to be that only DD/AC3 is available on the SP/DIF output of the Marvel G400 using the standard Matrox DVD player (Cinemaster engine), but that both DD and DTS can be obtained if you use the WinDVD player.
Wait for a moment, Peter! You own a Marvel G400 and there is an SPDIF on your BOB???? I buyed my Marvel and was very disappointed, that there is NO SPDIF. Matrox says, this is normal - it was only while develop the card, but never for sale.
I'm sure that I've already posted this once this week.
G400 BOB doesn't have an SPDIF (except a very few of the early models, mainly shipped for reviews). But it doesn't make any difference since the ONLY purpose of the SPDIF socket on the G200 Marvel BOB was for those who bothered with the Matrox hardware DVD solution (which connected to the SPDIF). I don't believe that many of these units found their way to market
Oh no, I'm guilty of believing the many reviews of the Marvel I've read...
I currently have a Pentium 100 with a Creative Encore dxr2 linked to a DD/DTS home cinema amp. This system is getting long in the tooth, and I need to buy a replacement computer to get into the world of video NLE and to continue DVD watching. I thought that the Marvel plus a DV card sounded ideal...
As an alternative, if I buy a Soundblaster Live, can the digital audio bitstream from a DVD get routed to the SP/DIF on that card?
I have a Marvel G400 and SB Live. I can listen DVDs in Dolby Digital. I connected the DVD Rom with SP-DIF to the Soundblaster and the Soundblaster Sp-DIF out to my Surround Amplifier. I dont know if the signal is just routed through the card or if the cinemaster Player decodes the AC-3 and send it to the Soundblaster.
Well, I dont know how it works excatly. If it must be decoded i dont need that sp-dif inside, but i use it for audio CDs and my Idea was that a DVD Rom maybe sends the sound of the DVD digital through the Sp/dif out.
If this would be so anything like DTS, MPEG, AC-3 will arrive the Amplifier.
I Have an A-Open 6x, SoundBlaster live and play my dvds through a 75 ohms coax cable to my Yamaha AC-3 receiver, works perfectly....
Do you need to connect the internal sp/dif from your dvd to the soundcard? I thought that the sound-stream was internally decoded in the computer?
Mostly when you play a DVD on your DTS you get a digital-input-signal led on your AC-3 decoder, mine doesn't (but does exist), but does play whatever the the computer sends it.... Does this mean that the stream outputed by the live is uncompressed and the DTS decoder doesn't need to process it?
