  • Video Capture Software

Simple question from my simple mind. I have a Marvel G200 and Adobe Premiere 5.1. What software program is recommended for capturing the source video?

AVI_IO gives me the best results regardless of the editor I use.

Try asking smartcap from Boris Prokhorov [borispr@mail.ru]

It is as great as AVI_IO (only playing back support lacks) and is free!!!

VirtualDub works nice, and it's also free:

I've been trying to get Virtual Dub to work properly with my RR-G.. But I can't seem to fiugre out how to get it to compress and capture properly.. (that is, it captures full frames and the file sizes are massive!) Can someone help me out with this? What do I have to set all the settings to? Any help greatly appreciated...

                    To Coolfish:

If you have the latest release (1.2a):
File -> Capture Avi (the programs goes in capture mode)
Video -> Format. Here you can choose the frame size and the format (RGB 8, 16 , 24 bit or Mjpg).
If you choose a RGB mode go to Video-> Compression (internal, to enable functions like over-2Gb Captures, and spill Systems)

Now I'm using VirtualDub to test the new VideoTools. 3 hours of capture at different sizes (352x288, 704x576), and desktop set to 1024x768x32bit and I have not seen a buggy frame.
Seems that finally Matrox has solved the problem

As usual ,sorry for my English

                      T-rex,

Perhaps its an PAL vs. NTSC or G400 vs. G200 thing but when I tried Virtual Dub 1.2a on my NTSC G200Marvel-TV the capture crashed after capturing much like trying to use it with Premiere.

I tried AVI_IO, it worked so I bought it, Matrox should buy it and include it with the cards or hire Markus as he's obviously better than anyone they have working on PCVCR.
