RT2000 compatibility?

Hi all!
According to the RT2000 FAQ, the Athlon chipsets are currently not supported. Does this mean that the RT2000 will not work on Athlon based systems? That would suck... Though I'm sure they will do everything they can to support them in the very near future, due to the enormous popularity this chips have had since they arrived on the market.

While the Athlon is not currently supported Matrox has made it clear that after the RT-2000 release Athlon support is on the short list.

But does this mean that it won't work with Athlon systems? Or will only time give me an answer?
