No, No win2K support as far as I'm concerned.
We'll have to wait and see I guess.

              Elie,
Have you tried the drivers under 2000, or is the lack of Matrox endorsement that concerns you?

Ok, I got them browsing the ftp site under nt4/2000/ . They seem to work but I still don't have the G400. Gonna buy it on Monday.
NOTE: It seems that the new display driver are included with the files in the vidtools download, so before downloading the display drivers (4.35) download the vidtools and check out.

                Bye bye

I have tried the new PD 4.35 and VT 1.52 under Windows 2000. One thing is different I can now close PC-VCR without getting a BSOD. AVI_IO still gives a BSOD when i close it. The new Video tools are more difficult to install under Windows 2000.

                    JoakimC,
Maybe you could post instructions on how to get the new drivers installed under Windows 2000 (since you say it is more difficult). I had hoped to try them out this weekend, however other things have been taking too long... Next weekend I guess.

                      gibverse,
I didn't write anything about how I installed Video tools because I used SoftICE. I put a breakpoint on GetVersion() and changed the info in OSVERSIONINFO. I tried many different ways and suddenly it installed. Now i don't remember what I did that time it did install. It was easy to crack the PD 4.35 setup program.

                        You da man, JoakimC.

Now everyone's gonna be all over you to post a patch or a hack or something.

Although I suppose if its working that well, so far, that it'll just be a few weeks until VT for 2000 is released.

Wonder why this news wasn't covered on the front-page of MU.

I have made a webpage with the cracked PD files. The web page doesn't work right now. Yesterday when I only had the PD 4.13 files on the page it worked. I don't know why it doesn't work today. The files are there but I get an error message when i try to download them.

                          Here is the URL http://yesiwantspam.tripod.com/

                          Fogduck,
The drivers doesn't work well with Windows 2000. But it shouldn't be difficult for Matrox to fix them.

Actually I have'nt tried it yet, My machine is running Win98/Winnt 4.0/Win2000 so I'll check it out.

To Tell you the truth, having owned the Mystique 170/RR TV Tuner,M3D,Mystique 220, Marvel G200 + DVD decoder, Marvel G400 (2 of them), I didn't think once that Matrox lacks support whether it's on the hardware side or software (drivers).
You have to appreciat their efforts, and give them credit for the driver support now and in the past.

You cannot argue the lack of Win2000 RR drivers yet because it's NOT officially released, so when that takes place we'll probably here something from Matrox regarding that.

                              Elie,

I did not say anything about Matrox's support (endorsement is the word I used). Actually, Matrox's drivers and hardware tends to be extremely stable, most likely due to the ever-famous SQA.

And Windows2000 isn't officially released to the retail channel. It has been officially released to OEMs, and MS Select volume purchasing customers for over a month.

We shall see if Matrox releases an official driver this month. As much as I hope they do, in my experience they choose to make sure that the release is stable, thus avoiding having to release new drivers every few days. This may translate to another long-awaited driver release. That is all I was implying. Hopefully, the have been working on a 2000 driver since the beta testing days of 2000, and are in the testing phase of it now.

                              John
