  • MSPro5.2 error code 9999

Just when I thought I had all the bugs and flaws worked around I get this.

Made my most complicated set of edits yet.

Wrote output to tape using MSPro5.2 smart render preview. Worked fine. Put in another tape for a second copy, hit play on the navigator to restart the preview and up pops the "Playback error! Please ask your hardware vendor for error 9999" dialog.
    :-(

That's that blasted darned annoying message that kept me away from anything but ActiveMovie previews for the longest time. I think you have to restart MSPro each time that happens.

Perhaps you could try rendering to a few files and then putting those in a project and previewing?

      Fluggo,

Good to know its not just me!
I can't figure this one out, but its not as dire as the dialog box says -- I don't have to exit and restart MSPro5.2 as the error message says I do.

Best I can tell, some how the playback stops pointing beyond my project's end and when I start the second preview, up pops the error message. After getting frustrated and sending my plea for help, I played around some more and discoverd I can dismiss the dialog, hit the "begining cue" button to "rewind" the preview and then hit play and all is well. I tried reducing the preview stop duration in the dialog under the edit menu but that didn't seem to help.

So I'm still confused, but a work around is to just "rewind" the preview before playing it again. I made six tapes last night and no problems other than this annoyance.
