    Doc,

    Thanks!

I've received some queries from others
who want to know if there's timeline
playback in MediaStudio Pro 6 in
connection with OHCI DV boards... the
generic Type 1 DV boards by ADS and
Siig, for example. I do not know the
answer to that question. Have you come
    across that information?

Would there be timeline playback, for
example, with Pyro using the Texas
    Instruments DV codec?

Well.. I've installed it under win2k now. And ulead capture reports:

      Device Control:
      None
      MCI device control
      MS 1394 Device Control
      TI 1394 Device Control
      Vlan Device Control

      And under capture Devices:
      Ulead Directshow Plugin
      Ulead Mpeg Vfw plugin
      Ulead Mpeg Directsho plugin

I've got a JVC DVL-9600 DV cam. And in win98 i got it to work with my pyro both in videostudio 4.0 and videowave III. Both installed their own DV codec's, like adaptec's version. Now all the choices in videocapture (in win2k) are greyed out. The only device control that works is the MS 1394. But after i check this one nothing happenes. The control panel is still greyed out. I've got the feel at not all codec's and plugins has been installed.

      Any ideas?

Interesting that you would install it
in Windows 2000. I assume this is a
'beta' release of Windows 2000? Right?

          Jerry,
For the love of god would you get off your anti-DV500 rant-from-hell. Despite the select trash you seem to dig up, most of us that have the card are quite happy with it and have experienced it working as advertised. Even the moderators of this site have posted that the user groups show overwelmingly positive response. You continue to post these quotes from problems in "defense" of the still-unreleased RT2000. I hope the RT2000 is great. I have the DV500 and it works great. These are not moral issues.

Also, you keep forgetting that the "realtime" support for BOTH cards is for analog output only. How many people have to say something before you concede to being wrong?

To everyone else...The DV500 works excellent and as advertised, if your computer is compatible. This the only stipulation and it is one that all NLE hardware places on the host system. The RT2000 will no-doubt work just as well in systems that have no compatibility issues. If your system is incompatible, either card will be a nightmare. This is the nature of the PC so just deal with it.

I have a Geforce so I opted for the DV500. Otherwise it would have been more of a toss-up, though the delay in the RT2000 would have prevented som e time-dependent work.

In conclusion, Jerry, give it a rest. You are WRONG. End of story. The DV500 works. Period. Please go seek counseling for this hatred of pinnacle and stop flooding the boards with unrepresentative usergroup quotes. Until you find a system that has 100% compatibility with ALL hardware on the PC market, cut them and the rest of us some slack.

(Sorry about this rant but enough is enough)

Jerrod: Interestin? Well win2k is final now! Has been that for 1,5 months now. It's fast and supports all my hardware.
            SMP and DV support.

              Jerry,

I've never had a problem getting MSPro of any version over 5.0 to do timeline (cutlist) playback with any installed codec.

The DV card I'm using now (sorry, NDA) has such a system codec and MSPro 6 edits and does cutlist with it just fine.

              Dr. Alien,

I'm glad that you're having good luck with your DV-500, however there are some inconsistancies that have arisen regarding its realtime capabilities. These seem to run contrary to its billing.

              Don't shoot the messengers....

Hey, guys, this is getting a little out of hand. I'm the first to rant and rave, but this is going too far. If the participants of this verbal battle can't say sorry to each other, maybe Chris can close the thread.

It was very late and I was very tired from editing when I wrote that largerly loony rant. Jerry, I'm sorry. U da man. No joke.

                  No hard feelings.

Great news. Even before Ulead has
released the new MEDIASTUDIO PRO 6,
Canopus has *already* posted a brand
                      new plug-in specifically designed for
                      enhanced integration between the DV
                      Raptor and MEDIASTUDIO PRO 6:
