  • DVD upgrade and Zoran player

    Hi,

I'm having serious difficulties with the Matrox DVD decoder upgrade. The included Zoran DVD player does not work properly
in my Win98 & Matrox Millennium G200 system.

I can use the Zoran player to play MP3 files on my hard disk, but trying to use it for
playing DVD discs is no-go. It apparently does not recognise the Pioneer SCSI DVD
drive I have. Instead, an error message is displayed saying that either the DVD drive
is not working properly or then there is no DVD disc inserted. Both guesses are wrong!
The drive works properly for sure (contents
of DVD discs can be partially copied - copy protection prevents copying of most files - and there surely is a DVD disc inserted that has been proved to work elsewhere).

Additionally, when I have also a CD-RW drive in the SCSI bus, trying to open the options screen of Zoran player jams the whole machine forever (based on sounds the drives make I could imagine that the software starts
    polling all the drives indefinitely).

Any ideas what to do? Are there any other player software on the market that could
take advantage of the Matrox DVD add-on?
Are there any updates that could be helpful?
It seems hard to believe that a company like Matrox would sell hardware that cannot be used at all because there is no functional software for it.
