  • G200 Marvel: Can't shutdown with new drivers

The latest drivers cause my computer
to lock up completely when I want to shutdown the computer.

I have owned my Marvel G200 for quite some time now, and I'm sad to say that the drivers are still in pre-beta state. The software is poor, and doesn't even perform the most basic thing you'd expect from a video recorder: to record a full-size 2 hours movie and play it back again. Way to go, Matrox...

Windows shutdown problems are a real PITA and a big part of why I use NT whenever possible.

If it doesn't bring up scandisk on restart, its only cosmetic and IMHO not worth worrying about. If it does bring up scandisk then you need to do something about it.

Unfortunately, this is usually re-install windows if your are lucky, reformat and start over if you are not.

One trick I discovered by accident which has worked on several other win95 and win98 systems with shutdown problems is instead of shutting down, choose "login as differnet user". If your "windows login" box pops up click cancel and then shut it down, otherwise let it start up and then shutdown. Power off and restart. If you now get a clean shutdown you've probably fixed it.

There is no earthly reason I can think of as to why this should help but it has fixed more than one system for me and my friends with shutdown problems.

    good luck!

I got rid of the drivers and installed an older generation. It works now (more or less)...
