  • RR-G, PC-VCR and sound output

    Hi,

When I used to load PC-VCR it would un-mute the line-in and play sound. When I quit the program it would mute it again.

Since the 1.5 versions have been out this no longer happens. I have to go in and un-mute it myself, and when I quit I have to go and mute it, otherwise I continue to hear the sound.

Yes - I am using the sound passthrough on the RR-G. I would have thought this would shut off the sound and stop it passing through, but it doesn't seem to.

I have formatted my machine and this problem happens right from a clean format. Currently I use 5.41 PD and the latest Video Tools (1.52 or whatever they are). I have had the problem for a good 6 months now, though. It's not just something that occurs with this particular set of tools and drivers.

I've run the Matrox connect program and it does not help.

Very occasionally it works for one load and quit of PC-VCR (it works about 1 in 20).

My sound card is an SB Live!

    Any ideas?

    Seeya,

    ...David <optic@iname.com>

      Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but it had no relevance to my problem.

Whether I bypass the RR-G's passthrough or not, I still have the problem of PC-VCR not un-muting and muting the line-in channel like it used to. This is what I want a solution for.

Rest assured I used the search option before posting, as I always do.

        I know what you mean..

It captures sound fine. so if you started PC VCR, captured a file and then played it back there would be sound. But unless you actually go into the sound thing and uncheck mute on line in you dont hear sound as your capturing. Then you also have to go in the sound thing to mute line in after capturing. to avoid hearing the sound

Its one of those things i class as a minor annoyance.

        but still it is irritating.

sorry i dont know how to help but if you find out. let me know :O)

          Hi CMB,

Yes, that is my problem exactly. I agree with you - it is only a minor annoyance, but I just hoped someone might have a solution.

It *used* to work fine for me, before the 1.5 generation Video Tools came out. Go figure.

Strangely it works about 1 in 20 times! I load PC-VCR and it un-mutes the line-in channel. I quit and it mutes it again. Unfortunately I tend to find that it doesn't work the very next time I load it.

          Strange problem.
