I use G200 TV, HI 8 Camcorder, AVID Cinema and Pansonic Encoder. I am going to gradually go digital as my wallet permits. MSP is not reachable right now, but wondered if I might benefit from taking the "baby step" from AVID to Video Studio. What new goodies will VS give me? Will it make better movies than AVID? Will it be faster and overall more versatile? Thanks.

I don't know about VideoStudio, but for about half the price you can get the full version of MediaStudio 5.0 (with a free upgrade to 5.2 from the Ulead website) - DaddyBay sent me to egghead.com at their auction site where I got my new copy of MSP 5.0 for $45 U.S. It works great and allows me to upgrade to 6.0 also. Might be another alternative for you. You may just have to look around a bit before finding it, but it seems to be a common occurance for folks here at the MURC forum to find MSP for $40-$70

A couple of places to look for bargain-priced MSPro purchases are http://www.egghead.com and http://www.ebay.com . It pops up on both regularly.

Hi
Watch out for the new software bundle to be included with the ADS Pyro firewire card.
You get VS v4 & very, very soon MS Pro 6 VE with an upgrade path to the full MS Pro version.
I am currently using the VE version and I highly recommend it.
If you are in the UK check out http://www.lynxdv.com/jp.html for a keen price on DV in & the Pyro. MS Pro 6 VE is not available in the UK yet but it's only weeks away.
