  • The waiting is the hardest part....

Well, here we are in the exact middle of February, and I still can't buy an RT2000 or the MSP 6.0 upgrade...

Well! You do have to live in an underdeveloping nation

I just received an e-mail reply from Matrox regarding the shipment of the RT2000 to dealers that said:

"we started shipping Friday and did a big
      shipment [Monday] to our resellers."

Now, how long does it take those shipments to reach resellers?

And how long until all the bugs are ironed out?

Oh ye of little faith. The goods are in the channel. It won't be long now. Just days, not months.

OK, the glass is a quarter full.

I just found out over at Paul Bailey's (a dealer) RT2000 bulletin board that the first shipment of RT2000's was held up because of a problem with the driver CD's made by a duplication house. They received a new batch Wednesday afternoon, and if they pass Q&A then the shipment should go out Friday.

I don't know how to square this with the e-mail I received directly from Matrox telling me they had already shipped last Friday and Monday, unless they recalled the shipments.

Oh, the strain on my faith.

                Wow.

                Win2K's been released...

Does that mean that the as yet still unavailable RT2000 and MSP 6.0 are now obsolete?

This is all beginning to feel like a Woody Allen film.

Obsolete, shmobsolete. All that matters is that it gets the job done the way you want it done. I am cruisin' the web right now on a 33 MHz 486. (Not to mention that Matrox has said they will support Win2K on the RT2000 after Win2K is released.)

Back to that partially full glass. I received a speedy reply from Matrox when I asked about the delay due to the problems with the driver CD's:

"With reference to your inquiry, Paul Bailey is absolutely right. We were scheduled to ship on the 14th because all our hardware was ready to be bundled with the CDs. However, there were delivery problems with the software CDs and while I was sure we had shipped, we had not. So, I am sorry for the misinformation. I will confirm that what your dealer says is right and in fact, the testing went smoothly and we officially released the product about one hour ago."

The e-mail was dated February 17, 11:24am EST. My faith restored, I will dream pleasant dreams of RT2000's shipping to resellers in great quantity Friday.

Daddybay: Well, here's what I find so humorous... (Not to mention that Matrox has said they will support Win2K on the RT2000 after Win2K is released.)... in that that kind of statement has been based in the idea that RT2000 would be released LONG before Win2k. I think it's ironic that RT2000 took so long to get out the door that Win2k is out there ON THE SAME DAY!

I do see the humor. I was ROFLing from your last post (Woody Allen film).

I've been ROFLing, too, every time I see a new ship date... actually, it's more like a Coen brothers film.

We have confirmation that Matrox USA distribution center got RT2000 today. That means we should get our first units in on Tuesday. With the current release schedule we hope to have all pre-orders shipped out by month end!!!

I will have my complete hands on review posted this week.
