  • Old mpeg4 codec. I need it please.

I used to capture with rr then import to premiere, edit then export as asf. But after I re-did my computer every time I exported, all my edits would not be implemented, just an asf of my raw capured footage. Now I remember that I used to use the beta mpeg4 codec and life was sweet. Can one of you fine chaps throw me a link or an attachment so I can spare the last few hairs on my head.
Also do I have to remove the mpeg4 codec that is in my system to use the old one? If so, how?

    Kenobi,
I am at work now, but tonight I will send you the old version of MPG4C32.dll. You only have to copy it in your windows\system directory. I did this on my PC at home, and it works. Are you aware that the MPEG4 codec includes 3 versions of MPEG4 (V1, V2 and V3), and that the latest V1 still enables you to compress?
When copying the old version, take the usual precautionary steps: copy or rename the current dll so that you don't overwrite it in case there is a problem.
Unless someone else already sent you the file...

If I switch it on it is even worse.

Questor: there seems to be a problem with your e-mail address (domain not found).

              Michel,

So that you don't end up having to email every vid-editor in Christendom, would you like me to put the DLL and an explanation up on the download section of the site ?

the Divx v3 codec is based on the ms-mpeg4 codec and allows creation of avi files. see the video showcase, i encoded 32b with this codec.

                  Chris,
Yes, that would be nice and a little bit easier for me. Just explain how I can send it to you. Just through your e-mail?
                  Thank you,

Thanks for the overwhelming responce boys.
Miker where is the link to the divx 3 codec? Or are you just shamelessly pluging you video. Your post didn't help squat, how about a follow-up.(where is the video showcase anyway?)

                      Michka,

Sure, just email me with it chris@desktopvideoworld.com

If you can type up what you are all trying to achieve then it means that I'll be able to get it linked up faster (one less thing for me to do).

Kenobi, If you haven't been to the main desktopvideo site then you are missing out ! This forum is part of www.desktopvideoworld.com

Chris (This_Idiot) placed the MPEG4 codec on the download page of www.desktopvideoworld.com
together with some explanation on how to use it and why in today's news.
Chris, thank you very much for your effort in helping us all.

No probs Mishka. Despite the fact that I bark at people occasionally, the whole reason for the site is to help people. Or help people help other people. In fact I've learned a huge amount and forgotten most of it. Certainly I don't make any money out of it, so if it isn't being helpful I'm wasting my own time and money

Luckily it's brought me into contact with a lot of great people. And it's a real bonus when some folks take the time and effort to help everyone else out - My thanks for your contribution.

                            Chris,

We could use a permanent link to the main site in here (since some have never even realized, that it is there)

                            Could it be done ?

                              Hi Pertti,

Yes, you are right. I've been noticing the same kind of problem increasingly recently.

I think that the problem is that the same code is generated for all 10 of the MURC forums, so trying to individualise them is a major task.

The easiest solution I can think of is to add in a "hey, visit me" line into my siggy. But then everyone will get pissed off reading that every time I post (which isn't infrequent)
