Damn Jerry, I thought you were pointing us at the releas of your new Ulead site. I waited 2 minutes for this offering to load and then dipped out figuring that you wouldn't actually align with Ulead totally - yes, it took me two minutes, it's late at night over here.

Congratulations to Ulead - they told me a release date of "Before March" and they did it! - I look forward to receiving my copy of MSP 6.0 and putting it through it's paces, however I'm probably the one that needs to go through the paces, as I've just "gotten my feet wet" with NLE so far. Too bad my current project is almost finished (maybe I'll redo everything just to see what editing in native DV does for the quality)

I wonder why the upgrade is not available in retail stores. I just have to look at the difference in shipping cost to Canada to have second thoughts about buying right now. If you live in the continental US it is only $8.95 to ship via UPS but once outside of there, FEDEX has you by the short and curlies. $37.95(US) ~$57(CAN) to Canada. FEDEX even charges more in the lower 48 US states ($20.95). I'll just have to wait a while longer while the savings account fills up again. At least I don't live in Africa - over $100(US) to ship to there.

I just tried to order the upgrade but I keep getting a screen that says "We're Sorry.
You are receiving this message for one of two reasons:

            Different Shipping Methods:
At this time orders cannot contain two different shipping methods (i.e. shipping one product Fed-Ex and the other UPS). Please submit two separate orders for these products.

            Pre-Order Product:
At this time orders cannot contain both pre-order products and products that are immediately available for shipment. Please submit two separate orders, one for pre-orders, and one for currently available products.

We're working to improve this process. Thanks for your patience."

I am not trying to order anything but the upgrade so there is no need for 2 orders. Is anyone else seeing this?

After some reflection, I must conclude
this was a very lucky "hit."

These new MediaStudio Pro 6 pages are,
              indeed, on the US site.

But they seem to be simply "parked"
there until the older 5.2 material is
              removed.

I think we're gonna have to give this
another day or two. They're right smack
in the middle of updating the site and
that link above was a lucky hit.

Turned out that my browser had cached a previous order so that my shopping cart did have two items in it. Thus I received the aforementioned error message.

                        Hi Mark F.

I live in Victoria BC Canada. I was just whining about getting shafted by FEDEX and their outrageous shipping fees. It is bad enough that $199(US) turns into $300(CAN). Then I have to cough up provincial sales tax and GST (another 14%) and now ULEAD requires me to ship by FEDEX for another almost $60. My total ends up being about $400(CAN). Oops, I almost forgot, I probably have to pay GST on the FEDEX shipping charge, never mind a brokerage fee for getting it across the border.

                          *** IMPORTANT ***

All Canadians should read the information at this link before they order anything from the States.

                          http://members.xoom.com/_XMCM/Drwebsite/Ebay/ups.htm

Canadians have been absolutely screwed by UPS, Purolator, Fed Ex and other private couriers over the years. Read this and find out how to protect yourself from paying way too much for "shipping" costs when ordering something from the States.

About 4 hours after Jerry posted the first msg in this thread, I went to the link and ordered the upgrade. I got my ack from digitalriver in my e-mail when I got home from work yesterday afternoon. So, everything seems to be working the way it usually does with a Ulead order.

Now, of course, it remains to be seen how long before the little pkg arrives on my doorstep...

Firstly, I must apologize to Jerrold Jones for it wasn't my intention to start an offtopic discussion that probably belongs in the Soap Box.
Secondly, Patrick: Whoo-eeee is that guy mad at private couriers or what!! Thanks for the link, interesting reading. If I had the money right now for the MSP6 upgrade I would be hassling Ulead to use the USPS. It'll just have to wait awhile.
