  • saving to vcr

A couple of things I need help with please.

I have a Marvel G400 and I am using Media Studio Pro VE 5.2.

Is it possible using PC/VCR to load up a video file and record to VCR ?

Media Studio has a play full screen function to record to VCR but I am unable to do so. The options / played by section only offers Microsoft Video for Windows.
    Should ther be more ?
Why does it not record to VCR ?

    Am I missing something simple.

    Any help is much appreciated

    tia

The MSP "play to video" function is ridiculous, at least in the Matrox case. You have three options:

    1. Under Preview Options, select Best preview, full screen size & frame rate, Matrox MJPEG codec, etc... Return to the timeline and hit enter and everything should be properly rendered and played to screen and TV out for you.

    2. Render the video to a file, load up PC-VCR in file mode, load the file, hit play, rock 'n' roll.

    3. Render the video to a file, load it up in Windows Media Player (a double-click on the file should be fine, but if not, Start->Run->mplayer2), hit play, rock 'n' roll.

      Thanks Fluggo

      I will try suggestion 1

The other two suggestions have been tried and I get nothing. Have I missed something in windows or PC VCR setup. In advanced I have output to line out selected

        dusher,
        I'm using & prefere fluggo99's method 2.
I experienced that in PC-VCR must be configured for the same Videotype, Image size & Frame rate as for my video clip.
Don't forget to check the PC VCR Remote Advanced Properties that the mark the Output to video line out.
Don't forget to switch the VCR channel to "AU" or "AU1" etc, not to a TV. channel. I missed it sometimes
Tried MSP 6 Capture, but I prefer the PC VCR.

BTW, when I try to Preview the work area of a clip in MSP 6, using the Spacebar, the Rendering is ended by the error message: "Multiple file playback error: Preparation failure."
What does it nean and how to cure?
        But it is another Qest...

Many thanks to you both. But again let me say that suggestions 2 & 3 have both been tried with no result other than a blank recording. I must have missed something in one of my setups, windows or matrox. I am running win98 2nd edition.

I have line out selected in pc-vcr advanced and vcr is set to av.
