  • How do I get the Teletext utility to work?

    Hello All,
Forgive my ignorance, but how exactly do I get the Matrox Teletext utility to work with my RR-G. All I get is a black screen upon running it.

    Chris.

      Hi !

After you have installed the Teletext Explorer it must be activated by the PC-VCR´s CC-button (under the channel button).

      Bye, Uwe.

I have the same problem and Uwe's suggestion didn't help. Can anyone explain if/how I can examine the settings for this teletext-program?

When I first installed the Marvel G400 it worked, but after my drivers-upgrade I can't get it to work anymore.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I've found that in order for the Teletext to work, you need to be tuned to a TV channel which has an associated Teletext stream, such as CNN.

            Cheers,
            Gilad.

              Spielberg,
I suppose that when you upgraded, you followed the Matrox procedure. If so, the link in the registry to the teletext app has been removed. When 'upgrading' (Matrox definition of upgrading: completely remove the old version and then install the new one), you also have to remove and reinstall the teletext app so that the link is reinstated.

I am watching the TV and it's worthless.
If I switch it on it is even worse.

Don't forget that the Teletext is a European-only function. It won't work in North America

Yes, I know that Teletext is European: I"m living in the Netherlands and as I mentioned before it worked after my initial installation.

The Teletext Help says that the teletext-driver is BT848VBI.386 or BTVBI.386 and should be in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
Well, it is not so that might be the reason. Unfortunately it isn't on the installation CD as well.

Can somebody with a working teletext setup please check if he/she has this file? Thanks in advance.

                    Spielberg,
I don't have any of the two files you mention in my windows\system folder, and still the teletext app works fine.

Hmm. Rogue hasn't got back to us, so maybe he got his working.

Spielberg, sorry if I sounded "obvious" to you, but a great deal of the sites traffic comes from outside Europe, and it wouldn't be the first time that I've tried to debug a feature that isn't available over the pond.

I haven't got TT installed at the moment, and my system need some heavy work before it's worth trying to install again. My advice would be to make sure that the PDs and VTs are installed FIRST, and then the TT over the top.

No idea to help you, but:
Very, very often somebody asks: "Please can you mail me this Teletext Utility. It's not on my driver CD". And I wonder: why he doesn't try it on Matrox's Homepage? The first thing I would think of. Here you go: http://www.matrox.com/mga/drivers/files/ftp_util2.htm

Well I got my Teletext working. However it startes in a really small window and I can't make it any biggger. Also when I try and maxamise it it still stays really small.

                              Hi Tinnes,

increase the font-size in the Teletext Explorer and increase the windows-size after that.

                              Bye, Uwe.
