  • TV on Marv.G400: 2 issues

I just have a new Marvel G400, and I am quite new to this. Yesterday I connected my TV-cable, and launched the auto channel detection.

    1st question:
not all available channels are detected. How to change channel frequencies ? (I did choose the right country, and selected 'cable' connection)

    2nd question:
audio quality is poor on FM-only channels. When Nicam-stereo is availble sound is perfect. Any suggestions ?

    Thanks.

    Bonjour

    Salutations.

Yes I do understand French, but I prefer to answer in English :-) (I'm Flemish).

I installed both the 5.41 and the 1.52 drivers on a freshly installed W98.

I had both problems described in my previous message, but on top of that I didn't have any buttons on my remote control ?!?
I could only get them back by first installing the origal video tools and installing the 1.52 on top of that...

      Thanks for answering.

I had a problem with my TV-Tuner not detecting most of my channels with Autoscan. The strange thing was I could see the channels not detected by tying in the channel number but I could not record them to disk. I got a message suggesting my video signal was poor quality.

Anyway, to cut a long story short Matrox have decided there must be something wrong with my TV-Tuner and are sending me a new one. Could you have same problem?

What is causing the problem up to my opinion is slightly wrong channel frequencies. These are apparently stored in a registry file, and can be altered manually, and that is what I will try to do the next day(s).
I'll keep you informed if it works out...

And it worked out quite well
            (still need to finetune though)

Wrote a small excel sheet, in which I had to enter the channel frequencies (any order) and in another column I got all the lines necessary to paste in de registry.

            Cheers,

            Mark.

It wasn't my own idea of course, I refer to the registry patches at: http://www.desktopvideoworld.com/DTVW_downloads.htm

One of the first line describes where the channel frequencies are to be changed, but this could be different for the cable standard in your country. You can find this info in :
                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Matrox\RainbowRunner\0 \TVTFreq\TVTCountry]

In my specific case I changed the channel frequencies within :
                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Matrox\RainbowRunner\0 \TVTFreq\PAL_BG_STD\Cable]
by adapting one of the registry patches.
If you know the channel frequencies (in MHz), for example from your standard TV, you should convert those to hexadecimal numbers, and paste them in the patch in the order you desire (can easily be done using notepad).
The frequency in MHz should be multiplied with 10000 before converting to hex.
If you which I can e-mail you the excel-sheet I've used.

Ahum, I also solved my sound problem:
now I have connected the 'audio-out' cable to the 'line-in' and the 'audio-in' cable to my 'line-out' port of my soundcard, like it is supposed to be...
