Boutup noise

I've just bought a Marvel G400-TV, I had a lot of problems in installing it!
The last problem I haven't succeeded to solve is the annoying noise at the system booting.
This noise ends only after the password request or by unplugging the line-in cable from breakout box. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what is causing the problem, and how to solve it.
I am using Sound Blaster AudioPc 64V, and AMD K-6 350, etc.

What kind of noise is it??

You might have to play around with your soundcard mixer controls to enable or disable inputs like the Microphone or whatever might be caussing it.

If you can run the Matrox Quick Connect program and make sure you save before exiting.

I am having the same problem. Do you use a 'double-adapter' in the sound out plug - 1 for your speaker and 1 for the marvel box?

With mine, the sound stops when you boot up the PC-VCR.

I'm not able to describe the noise... it's like a very high frequency chord: "tatatata..."!!!
I have a double adapter in the line out plug (box+speaker). The noise stops after the request of password to start Windows.

The noise goes away after Windows has come up, but I've discovered that if I enable the line in and the speakers by the mixer it reappears and stops by booting up PC-VCR or Avid Cinema, as Rodgreen said, or disabling the line in.

Over the years, I've had a number of other things do that, too. Most recently, I set up a Voodoo 3500 TV-AGP and it sometimes has a random noise glitch at bootup, too. Chalk it up to an unaddressed random bit at power up, if it goes away at any point in the basic boot-up. If it doesn't go away after Windows has come up, however, then there's a bug in the software.

My setup has audio in and out going through a small outboard mixer, so I always have the speaker volume turned all the way down unless I'm going to use audio for any reason.

Hi Sounds like a feedback loop.Are your audio inputs and outputs connected to anything? eg. VTR or deck
on boot up many audio mixers reset levels and if your outputs loop through anything you may get an abrupt clue.

Interesting... I think one problem in trying to handle an unwanted 'noise' here is not actually hearing what it sounds like. If it's white noise, then it's probably a random bit at bootup. If, on the other hand, it's a squeal or motorboating type of noise, that could very well be a feedback loop that's caused by what the inputs and outputs of the sound card are hooked up to.
