  • Cable frequencies

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can best connect/configure my Cable on my Matrox Marvel G400-TV card.

I found that the channels provided by Matrox do not cover the frequencies my Cable provides.

The result is I only receive a few channels and some with poor quality!

    Please help!

You can check out the reg patches on the downloads section of this site - they'll only work for the stated areas though.

Other than that, if you can find out the frequencies that your local cable supplier uses then we can help out more.

Is that why my channels come in fuzzy on my Marvel G400, but look okay if the cable is connected to a TV? because of the frequencies? Can this be fixed in the registry?

        Odin,

Since you are in the States, I wouldn't immediately jump to the same conclusion, since I haven't heard of any frequency problems from North American users.

Holland is a nightmare, since not only each cable provider, but each LOCATION uses completely different frequencies. The same supplier could change frequencies for the same channel within a radius of 20Km or so.

But if you can get your cable supplier to tell you your local frequencies, you can check them off against your registry.

The "key" registry entry is at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Matrox\RainbowRunner\0 \TVTFreq\TVTCountry]

I had a similar problem with my RR-G. There is a setting on the tv tuner that lets you select the tv source (either TV-Antenna or Cable). When set to Antenna I didn't get more than 60 or so channels but when I set it to cable I got the full range of 120 stations. If your cable company broadcasts more than that then you may need to use a cable box and just set your tuner to channel 3.

Oops... sorry I thought you were in the states... I'm not sure how the cable frequencies work in the netherlands so my post might not be much help!

            Derkio,

same shit here in belgium too...

But as Chris ( I refuse to call him Idiot ) already pointed out, if you can get to know the exact channel frequencies (shouldn't be a problem I guess), it's quite easy to adapt your registry settings (don't be frightened).
Instructions and downloading at (thanks Chris): <A HREF="http://www.desktopvideoworld.com/DTVW_downloads.htm" TARGET=_blank>http://
            www.desktopvideoworld.com/DTVW_downloads.htm[/url]

If it wouldn't work out, you can still restore your original registry settings using the 'tvt.reg' file located in your video-tools directory.

            Hope this helps...
