Hello to all,
I was the first one, I believe, to question in the forum about a windows 2000 driver for the G400 flex card budled with the RT2000. After a little fiddling, I figured it out!!!!!!!
I DO NOT GUARENTEE THIS APPROACH BUT IT WORKED FOR ME.
In the Win2k support, you get DVD Duel head output, multi monitor clone and split desktop!!!!!! (Even win98 does not have this for the RT yet.)
Basically, all you have to do is convince win2k that your card is indeed a G400 chip.
Since the G400 flex is a G400 at heart, this works.
*Notes - - In my system, I had a Marvel G200 - TV with the Beta 5.00 Win2k Matrox Drivers installed, I do get the Matrox Quickdesk only because I believe I had It with the G200 before my new RT. When you try to run the setup for the Beta Drivers, it says that it cannot find any matrox cards installed. Therefore, you can't install the quickdesk (for some reason) even when you manage to get windows to accept the G400 Flex. Try throwing in an old matrox card to get the powerdesk to install, then put in the RT and follow these steps.
***Steps to completion.
Go get the Windows 2k drivers from www.murc.ws (i used the beta 5.00 drivers). Unzip the drivers to c:\mgafold\beta500\ (or somthing like this)
Uninstall all video cards including the VGA driver that win2k installs.
Don't Reboot. Now go into add new hardware in Control panel. Have windows search plug and play (does this automatically). It should come up saying that it found the VGA video card again but don't let it install the default driver. You want to specify another driver and choose video cards from the list of hardware devices. Next, click "Have Disk" and choose the directory of the beta 5.0x drivers. It will show the large list of drivers.
YOU WANT TO CHOOSE "MATROX G400 AGP - (your language)"
This will install the G400 drivers and windows will ask to reboot.
Next you will find that you have perfect video support for your G400 flex!!!!!!
This includes Duel Head and OpenGL!!!!!!!!!!!!
