  • Hi Quality VCD and DVD stand alone player

For a very good quality (better and better then the poor 1150 kbit/s of standard VCD) a 40-41 minutes of mpeg1 video and compatibility with DVD stand alone player I use the Panasonic Encoder (stand alone or plug in for Premiere ) and Nero Burning ROM (v 4.0.56 and later)

    This VCD is compatible with
1 my DVD stand-alone player Pioneer DV 525
    2 a stand-alone Sony DVP-S725 player of my friend
3 my Creative dxr-2 pc HW decoder
4 Power DVD pc sw player (v.2.55)
5 Win DVD 2000 pc sw player
6 Ati dvd player v3.1 and cinemaster v2.0.36.6145 engine (you must open the \Mpegav\Avseq01.dat)
    7 Windows media player

VERY IMPORTANT !!! you Must set in Panasonic encoder type MPEG1 System (.mpg) and not VCD/Pal Stream .
With Nero Burning you MUST set compatibility with Video CD v2.0 (CDI).

Very interesting! I will try it at once. I've always used the VCD setting in Panasonic or else the Adaptec wouldn't allow me to burn it. So Nero does the trick? Thanks!!

Thanks benedetto. I too have been making VCD's using Panasonic encoder but they don't seem to play in any DVD boxes. I too will try this procedure when time permits. I guess I can save it as a new profile once I tweak all the settings in the encoder... Do you find the the resulting files are a lot larger than ones with less color?

Tried it! Worked fine for the video, but the sound was garbled. Did I do something wrong or is there something to watch out for? Maybe it's my Philips 730 player...
