Live MPEG II encoding with Marvel G400 ?

The Marvel (and Rainbow Runner) is a hardware MJPEG capture device. It was never intended to capture MPEG or MPEG2. It's only very recently that afforable and usable MPEG capture/editing systems have come onto the market.

As Scouser says, if you have a fast enough PC then you can capture raw video via the Marvel and encode it to MPEG2 in software.

There are many hints on the forum on how to do this.

Does anybody know if Matrox intends to develop a soft that would enable the Marvel G400 to capture directly under MPEG II format?
Are ther other upgrades that will be developed soon ?

You can grab to Mpeg2 in MSP v6

Although you need a faaaaasssstt CPU, preferably a 500mhz or higher
