  • Mjpeg playback frame skip, on 2nd play its fine?

    Hey can anyone help?
when i capture or render a file
when ever i play it back either through media player 6.4 or matrox video tools
there is a frame skip every so often
but once i let it play through, if i play it again its fine....

can anyone help, i dont mind with short clips but when im taping something of decent length to video its damn annoying,
anyone heard of this problem before?
    is it a memory thing?
    i have 256mg 1x128 and 2x64

    help me please??????????
    thanks,

This is obvious, so you've probably already done it, but setting A/V interlace to every (1) frame reduces the amount of caching Media Player has to do to keep the audio with the video. Check it if there's excessive disk activity.

Even if there's not, caching could still be your problem. I think I solved it sometimes by just dragging the position handle all the way across the file slowly from end to beginning, so that each part would get put in memory.

But it's 1:53 in the AM, so I could be way off!

      A/V interlace???
do you mean when i render i create it like that. or do you mean its a control that i can change in media player?

for example. if i capture a clip...
then play it back it has the skip effect until i play it again.

it only happens with mjpeg files too
ive a feeling that a re-install would help as ive never experienced this before, but i cant reinstall without losing time and a lot off file juggling, so i best leave it till another time, its just annoying... ggrrrrr

Audio/video interlace is a creation step. MSP's Video Capture and Video Editor both have this option under the Advanced tab of save. I'm sure other products have the option, too, but you'll have to hunt for it.

Like I said, I doubt it's the problem, but certainly check. If your capture program doesn't have this option, then I'd assume it's already being done.

I'm using Matrox Video tools as always to capture files, i havent changed anything so i presume that its doing it.

I am using the latest video tools and the latest DX7 powerdesk, which i know is not reccomeneded but everything seems ok, except for this, which was the same before i switched
oh. and i have a Max and a RRG

          does any of that help?

Do you capture to a separate disk? What you are describinng could be caused by failure of disk to keep up with playback. When you replay it the second time - most of it is already in memory and it plays back just fine.
