  • MJPEG to MPEG

I have been trying to convert captured and edited mjpeg files to mpeg1 or mpeg2 so that I can make VCDs. I have a Matrox Marvel G400-TV. I have tried doing this using Medai Studio 5.2 and 6 by both creating an mpeg file and by using the convert video file feature. I have also tried to use the LSX-MPEG 2 Transcoder Matrox Edition program. After converting the new vifeo file is very pixely (if that is a word). Simply put, the quality is poor.
Does anyone know what I can do so that I can make VCD after I have edited an Mjpeg file?
    Thank you.

I suggest you try the forum "search" facility. There are currently 51 threads containing the phrase "vcd".

Make all your edits and wipes in mjpeg save the final edits in mjpeg. then use the wizird in ulead 5.2 or what ever set you resulution for something good like at least 320X what ever then save that as a mpeg1,2,3,4,what ever. And burn it. I knock them over with the stuff I come up with. Ten minuts is about 86meg. Hope this helps.

In theory YUV->RGB and vice-versa can be lossless... but in reality, there's going to be some level of round-off error. Not very much, and I doubt it would be visible until you get into a very high amount of generations from the original, but since RGB and YUV are all stored in integer formats, they cannot store the complete results of their conversion.
