  • Marvel G400-tv TV not working in Win2k

I have a Marvel G400-TV and have tried using both the beta and the unoffical video drivers under win2k.

I am in the UK (using PAL) and when I scan for TV channels, it finds some but they are all very poor quality.

I have a dual boot system with Windows ME and the identical hardware works fine in ME and all the expected TV channels give good reception.

The drivers seem to be cutting out the lower channel frequency ranges where my TV stations are. I can see some poorer picture TV channels at the higher frequency ranges that I can see with a normal TV to about the same level of quality

Anyone know what is cutting out the reception of the lower frequency range. This has to be a driver/software issue as I said the same hardware is working with winME.

I don't have problems with the video capture which alot of people are reporting just the TV part.

Just one other question. Does your Matrox Connection box get extremely hot or is mine about to fail.

To find the right combination of drivers/video tools for W2k is an art.

I guess you rather want to wait the next famous three weeks (if you do not understand this joke, please read former postings about availability of drivers in this forum) which will contain TV support for both os.

On the other hand, if the BoB is getting hot, I guess something is wrong. Mine is getting warm.

      Hopre this helps.
      Best Regards,
      Karlson.

I managed to figure it out reading other posts.
I appears that the scanner did not tune close enough to the program frequencies so all the channels appeared as noise.

By doing the channel setup again and acepting the defaults without scanning solves the problem.

But I would appreciate any replys regarding how hot your Connection box gets, since mine is very very hot and I notice it sparks when you plug in the connectors.

The blue break out box, or BOB as it is more commonly known, should definitely not be getting extremely hot. My G400TV BOB gets warm to the touch and nothing more.

If your BOB is that hot and also arcing when you plug in video connectors you should contact Matrox tech support to organise an RMA and replacement.

mine fried. in part anyway. the video and phono ins work fine but the coax doesnt work at all. nice people, they are sending me a replacement first then asking me to send mine off afterwards (since i need it to capture).

ps.. i am in the uk as well, and the leaked drivers worked great for me. they find all the channels fine, including my digibox

              Jimw,

You definitely need to contact tech support - let me know if you have any problems doing this.

I've had G200 and G400 Marvels and I've never seen any sparking from any of them, although the BOB can get a bit warm (specially the G400 cos it's got the tuner in it).

My advice is to disconnect the BOB until you've got an RMA from Matrox (that's an authority to return) - we don't want any nasty accidents.

              Cheers

              Chris
