Mjpeg - Seamless File Playback Help

I Need to playback large files end to end. Cant use premiere becasue its a jumpy son of a .... and i think everyone knows this fault.

I used to use media studio pro5 and line the files up end to end... and then it goes away takes 20 mins to redo the WAV file an dthen plays. However this has become buggy.

Is there a better or newer way to line up files and play without gaps. Ie any new software of tools for it.

Any help appreciated!

Oh yes, what i mean by all of what i said earlier is that the 2 gb file limit means that you can only get so much footage before you run out of space. Then you have to go on to the next 2gb file.

So its to playback seamlessly, say 1 hour of footage.. when at 704x576 PAL the 2 gig only plays about 20 mins of footage. I need to seamlessly play 1 hour.

Any tools for this.

Try AV_IO which is a piece of software many of us use both to capture and playback AVI's

I can't see the current license price on Markus's page, but I think it's only 15 or 20 bucks US, so if you like it PLEASE support him so he can carry on developing the product.

Thanks "this_idiot" dude. Tried it and yes it did what I needed to get me out of a hole.

However a few notes... AVI_IO trial version needs to be downloaded not from this site, beut from the makers site, because the one here is out of date and needs your clock turned back to work.

Next up - AVI_IO seemed to produce the odd jerk every minute of so. Also a few green flecks and black flecks popped in the video output. Otherwise seems like a spanking product and I did order it at $25. Thankfully I got it emailed the same day...which was handy because I was on a deadline.

AVIsynth a free and better way

Yes I think with AVIsynth it would be OK.

1 - D/L the package from labDV because AVIsynth is maintained by 2 or 3 dudes now.

2 -Install the DLL.

3- Create a simple .avs script witch open/merge AVIs, something like:

AVISource("movie1.avi") + AVISource("movie2.avi") + AVISource("movie3.avi")

4- Just open the .avs file in Media Player or any other video application !

5- If you have some problems with audio synchro, replace + by ++ in the script.

Voila!

Yup....AVISynth has to be one of the most useful freeware tools around.

Now...if only we could get Ulead to add support for it in MSPro....

I'd like MSP to once again support MediaMotion. Worked great for dumping back to Hi8. I'm a bit peaved that MSP6 does not support it anymore.

HI all

Had a similar problem/task the other day and thought some of this might provide a useful idea or three -- oh, & I wound up using AVI_IO anyway Oh, & all this is in win98SE.

First, I found that MSP6 (the ol' standby for printing the timeline), couldn't (or wouldn't) render the video without dropping frames. I then tried AVI.exe (gotta be the most used applet I've got) to change the file type to MPEG, so picvideo would be used to decode it. That seemed to work.

Second, working with this I tried VS5 since it has some newer code until the next MSP release. One nice thing about rendering the timeline there is that the temp files are retained! Render the timeline once, and after that printing from the timeline takes only seconds to start.

In both cases, I had problems using the leaked vtools -- I could print the timeline with the 1.55 version in place. Found these entries in ulead32.ini critical:

Last problem I had was inserting a black leader so the inevitable(?) green flash didn't get recorded to tape. Neither of the ulead products would render at all if I used a simple black avi file without sound, & AVI_IO wouldn't output sound at all on the subsequent files... Wound up just re-rendering the first avi with the black leader attached.

Finally, one thing I did notice was that the leaked beta remote would come awful close to rendering the files adequately as long as I stuck to an audio sampling rate of 44. I wanted to try and stick with the original 48 though (just being pazy really -- not wanting to take the time for a decent conversion).

With the higher sample rate, this newer remote paused between files, & both ulead apps seemed to have problems rendering the audio -- AVI_IO didn't.
