Calabuig: Use <a href"http://www.geocities.com/virtualdub/index.html">VirtualDub<\a> (programmed by Avery Lee) instead AVI_IO. It has the same funtions as AVI_IO for capturing (and many more for videoediting) and it is freeware (with source !!!)

Or use <a href="http://flits102-145.flits.rug.nl/CapTV.htm">CapTV<\a> (programmed by Alexandre Ostanine), it is also freeware and it is also possible to capture into more files without drops like AVI_IO.

I have tried Virtual Dub before and it dropped too many frames but I will give the other one you mentioned ago.

I did a quick test with CapTV and it wasn't a completely smooth transition there was a little glitch but still for FREE you can't complain.
