  • New bicubic settings in VirtualDub

    VirtualDub 1.4.5 now has 3 settings for bicubic resize filter. I can't find any documentation for this and have always used bicubic for resizing to 512 x 384. Please can someone tell me what the difference is between them and which will give the best quality from a 704 x 576 HuffyYUV capture. Thanks.

    hoping somebody comes up with the right answer, my guess is that the choices refer to the pattern size used when the filter samples the frame's pixels.

    Mark off a real short segment of your video and give it a shot all 3 ways -- see what looks best, and compare the processing times.

      Re: New bicubic settings in VirtualDub

      just looked into the sources,

      "Precise bicubic" in V1.4d is equivalent to "Precise bicubic (A=-0.75)" in V1.4.5

      see also _CreateCubicDecimateTable() in resample.cpp
