    Article is 100% fluff.

I'm intrested in MSP 6.5 but not worthless PR crap like this article.

Wally, geez, your definition of "fluff" is what I call an accurate feature-set description with more detail than was provided in previous articles.

I might add that your comment seems to be full of vinegar and a bit two-faced... when viewed in the context of your recent Vegas Video cheerleading.

Has MSP 6.5 upgrade (trial version) been released yet? If so, where can you download it?

I've never chearleaded for anything, let alone Vegas Video.

I ran across a seeming good deal and passed the info along.

I may be returning my copy of Vegas Video (CDs un-opened) as its time bombed. I haven't installed it, and won't if SF doesn't send me an activation code real soon. I refuse to buy/use anything that wastes my time after they've got my money with "forced registration". I certainly wouldn't have bought the package at all had it said "useless until activated by phone or web" on the outside of the box!

I've never recieved any benefits from registering anything, and clear negatives are the endless stream of junk mail and phone calls I recieve.

My experience with Ulead MSP6 pops up as a clasic example of why I regret registering it. I never recieved any notice of the release of the DVpatch or DVpatch II from them despite the software being basically not fit for its intended purpose of DV editing until the DVpatchII was released. But I have recieved double figure Emails from Ulead trying to sell me something. When I tried to ask their tech support a question about MSP6 and the DVDmax feature of the G450 I had to dig out all the registration info again before they'd listen to me at all, making my initial registration a total waste!

So yes I've more than a little vinegar in me lately, but definitely not two faced. I'll call an ****ole an****ole straight to his face right on the spot, since the few people I can't beat up, I can out run :-)

            rodgreen;

MSPro 6.5 is supposed to be released near the end of August. Even so the exact timetable has not been shared by Ulead, not even with the betas. I do expect it'll stay that way, but a hint that it's coming RSN is that they just dropped the price on MSPRo 6.0 to $295 from $495 USD.

Wally, it's really, really, really simple to be kept up to date on new Ulead developments:

Turn your life’s best moments into stunning movies with Corel VideoStudio! Get creative with drag-and-drop stylish templates, artistic filters, titles, transitions, and the whole palette of advanced editing tools. Get your FREE trial.

See the "News Flash" registration on the main Web page in the lower left corner? Just sign up for that.

As for the DV patch, your point of view just makes me laugh when I read it in the obvious historic context of Ulead's initial OHCI offerings:

              1. Ulead was first to offer software that supported OHCI DV.
              2. Adobe at the time offered *NO* OHCI DV support whatsoever.
              3. Digital Origin offered *NO* OHCI DV support whatsoever.
              4. Vegas Video - as I recall - did not offer timeline playback at all when it was initially released in the summer of last year.

Ulead's second DV timeline playback update was released on July 28, 2000 - within 2 short months of the first patch!

Give me a break! That brief delay really was insignificant.

What's more - when Adobe Premiere 6 was released long afterward, the timeline playback exhibited studdering and wasn't fixed until after Adobe had also released an update.

So - in all fairness - Ulead really has outperformed the other players in the field.

In addition, Ulead has been consistently out in front in terms of new technology being integrated into the suite.

Microsoft's Direct Show has only been adopted in gradual stages by all of the software vendors.

So that's why I have to chuckle when I read a comment like yours, Wally.

Ulead had my money in Feburary, I didn't have usable OHCI until July, this may be "insignificant" to you, but it wasn't to me at the time!

Uleads "outperforming" the others is simply because they sucked slightly less! As a registered user I should have been Emailed the DVpatch and the DVpatchII the day they were issued -- then registration would offer proven benefits! All I got for registration was SPAM!

Don't get me wrong, MSP6 is the video editing tool I try first, but they are way behind the curve wrt to Matrox's DVDmax feature -- it works great with Premiere6. At ~$65 for an OEM G450 its a wonderful addition to any editing setup! too bad MSP can't really take advantage of it.

                    Wally, Jerry

Just in case anyone is snooping that thinks that I don't excercise proper control over this forum...

I'm watching you two, and if you don't kiss and make up real soon then I'm gonna smack your legs and send you to bed with no supper (or is that against the International convention for human rights?).

OK, you can carry on now.....

Brian, I think you missed out all the stops for refreshment. My understanding is that in Cyprus if you just tried to pick up a squeezy bottle and damp sponge (even in a competitive event) then you would be mugged and forced to take in village hospitality. So 2h 37m nigfht be good for the running portion, but the rest of the week would be necessary for olives, souvlakia, etc.

Hey, I'll be 1000Km closer to you next week, down on the french med coast. Dya think we could communicate by semaphore or something ? Although I wasn't planning on taking flags that big. Oh well, mebbe they'll have introduced cyber-cafes to Cap D'agde by the time I arrive...

I think we would have to blow up Italy to get line of sight!

Have a good holiday and do forget to take your camcorder and don't look for that cybercafé, so that you can come back raring to moderate!
