  • Soundblaster Live!

    Dear Brian,

I saw your advice on Matroxusers. I have my Marvel G400 and SB Live! for just 2 days and everything works beautiful but only the sound does not! I haven't any sound on my videotape. Could it be the problem you are talking about?
I adjusted the setup speaker-preset (I hope I translated it good from Dutch into English!) from 2 to 4 speaker. I put the plugs in as you wrote. Is that all???
What do you mean by enable the SB16 emulation? Thanks for everything!
I may come back to you once again!!!

On playing from the computer to VHS tape (or TV), make a custom set-up where your F-R volume control is in the fully rear position. Adjust the level by the line volume control. When capturing, you will, of course, need to have a different set-up, but the SB system allows you to save these set-ups, so that going from one to the other is just a second's work.

When you install SB Live!, it automatically assumes you want to play some ancient DOS games and installs an SB-16 emulation. This robs your system of an IRQ, possibly causing your Live to be installed on the same IRQ as your Marvel, which is a no-no. Check they are on different IRQs. If not, and there is no spare IRQ available, disable this SB-16 emulation, which will free an IRQ (usually 5) and make your system more stable. I forget the exact details of how to do this, but you will surely find out how by looking up past posts on this forum.
