  • Win2k VidTools 2.04

Just upgraded to Video Tools 2.04 in Win2k with the "final" drivers 5.39.

I have G400 Max with RRG upgrade and DVD mod add-on (which is worthless, thanks guys )

The video tools have ABSOLUTELY NO capture options, no snapshot button, no video capture button, no timer, no timeshift.

Any Ideas why this is? I have captured video before, so why on Earth is it not supporting it now?

Matrox driver support has really started to irritate me. I am tired of having to patch drivers in order to friggin' use them.

It seems you can't use the latest versions and still have functionality.

That's not a bug, it's a feature. You can read a lot of flames about it, too. Matrox is not supporting hardware MJPEG and capture for W2k anymore.

You need to use third party programs like AVI_IO or VirtualDub together with e.g. a software codec like PIC Video or Morgan.

Help can be found in various forums and e.g. here:

    Best Regards,
    Karlson.

      WTF

So not only did they decide not to support MJPEG in win2k because it was "just too hard" whine whine, they decided not to allow us to capture AT ALL using the new VTools?

Only with 3rd party apps, huh?

      Nice.

Matrox driver team needs to talk to Nvidia.

          Re: WTF

I think the problem is most of them are at nVidia

Haven't heard that Nvidia are about to release video capture hardware (Although it would make life nice and interesting).

I think all the MJPEG technicians are working on the RT series for Matrox "professional" video products and that the "domestic" division is up the Swanee with no paddles in sight. Damned good time for the domestic division to leave the hardware compression arena. On the other hand, with the way that compression technology is advancing, how long will the MJPEG guys last in the professional division ?
