    Sorry forgot,

Use your old HD as Primary Master (OS), set your CD as Primary Slave (check jumpers), and the 20GB IBM alone on the secondary channel.

The cables aren't long enough for that...

At the moment I would leave it out (for testing purposes)

If the IBM software fixes the situation, then you can try it as secondary slave.

It seems like we need to write a bit slower

The cables are not long enough to do what ?

There seems to be a newer (officially released) Bios also for your motherboard.

(Note the "Fix no.22" in 1004 as well...)

It would be interesting to know which burning software you are using, and which version of ASPI drivers it has installed ?

It didn't work! Videocapturing worked perfect under 95 but the system became really unstable [crashed all the time] so I tried 98...only the secondary IDE channel enabled and the result was 128 dropped frames/465frames. Both IDE channels enabled, stuttering and green flashes. No IDE channels enabled, dropped frames and no cd-drives.

What the heck should I do!?! Capturing on my older HD works just fine, but 4gb capasity is way too small for videoediting. I want to make my 20gb HD work well with my clips but I don't know what to do anymore. >(

I don't think that my problems are caused by g400tv...I works well with my 4gb HD...but how can I make my 20gb drive work as well?!?

I made the 20gb secondary master and hp 8210i the secondary slave. Now things are working! I played the clips I had captured earlier and they played perfectly! Then I captured some new clips and the only problem was some colourfull flashes but I think that reinstalling [the latest] videotools and powerdesk will fix that

Now I can get better editing software...Premiere or MediastudioPro? I can't hardly wait struggling with problems that I get trying to make those programs work well on my computer

Thank you so much! I'll mention you on the credits ,)

2 x UltraDMA/33 Bus Master IDE Ports (Up to 4 IDE Devices). Support UltraDMA/33 : 33MB/Sec (Max) [this is from my motherboards specifications]

The Deskstar 22GXP, 25GP, 34GXP, and 37GP and Travelstar 25GS, 18GT, and 12GN drives support Ultra ATA/66 (UDMA mode 4), which offers a transfer rate of 66.6MB per second. Though most systems are compatible with Ultra ATA/66 drives, certain combinations of BIOSs, motherboards, and chipsets were not designed to recognize this transfer protocol. [IBMATA66]

so should I use the program or not?

                      Jakub,

If it does work now without ANY problems, then there in no need to use the program.
On the other hand, using the program does no harm either since your motherboard does not have UDMA66 controllers.

The 66.6MB/sec transfer rate is the maximum peak transfer rate, which the UDMA66 Interface is capable of, it is not the transfer rate which the drive can sustain.

Using UDMA33 or UDMA66 drives and controllers makes no difference as far as video editing (capturing/playback) is concerned, as long as there are no other problems in the system.

Premiere vs. MediaStudio... there is no competition there, MediaStudio wins hands down

I used the program and now I'm reinstalling 98 again I'm also downloading the latest videotools and powerdesk I'm so very very happy man now.

I quess I'll buy the Mediastudio then..how much does it cost in Finland? I might get major discount from Premiere because of my connections And I use other Adobe products too so maybe I could use all those together. Yes...I'll buy the Premiere first and if I don't like it, I'll buy the Mediastudio

Do I have to use PC-VCR to capture clips or can I capture from Premiere/Mediastudio?

You don't HAVE TO use PC-VCR, You CAN use it

MediaStudio comes with it's own capturing program.
Capturing in Premiere is done inside the bloated and bug ridden main program

I would expect the upgrade prices for MediaStudio 6 to be around FIM2000,- when I can find it, but so far I haven't had any luck. I am using MediaStudio5.2VE, which I got with my RainbowRunner Studio.
I have Premiere 5.1 also, but I haven't installed it into the MarvelG400 system.

The exchange rate between USD and FIM, when buying computer stuff, is about 1 to 10.
So, when you find the price, which our friends in the states have to pay in USD, you get the idea of what we have to pay up here.

I tried the Mediastudio pro trial and I'll get the full version as soon as I get some money. I also tried Premiere trial and there was nothing but errors
I solved the mystery of dropped frames [nothing bad, 1 dropped frame in over 4min clip]...It's my videocamera. I'm buying new videocamera anyway [maybe digital 8] so I think that solves that problem.
