Ulead DVD Plug-in and TMPGEnc

Hi All,

I have encoded avi to mpg using TMPGEnc and trying to burn using Ulead DVD Plug-in, but for some reason the Ulead DVD Plug-in is refusing the file, even though the file is PAL VCD standard. Any ideas ?

I dont know the Ulead DVD plugin

But is it not for dvd complient streams

That being so what template in tmpgenc did you use?

The DVD Plugin's a bit strict when it comes to using MPEG's it didn't encode using its own presets or those with xVCD or xSVCD bitrates. As such it's hard to get it to accept TMPGEnc files for use with its CD creation features.

This may well improve as the MSPro 6.5 betas hit Ulead pretty hard regarding this problem with the DVD Plugin. It was basically suggested they just put in an override switch to allow you to burn with whatever file you wanted to use. Something akin to what you can do in Nero etc. They seemed to be listening.

I had the same problem. If the output file from TMPEG is mpg, try renaming the extension mpeg. THis is one reason the plugin will not accept VCD. Let me know if it works.

I've been using VCD/SVCD files encoded TMPGEnc 12a in the plug-in. From my experience, the files created work fine as long as the bitrate is standard.

Hi All,

I have been trying every thing I could think of to get the Ulead DVD Plug-in working with files encoded with TMPGEnc. I have tried renaming to mgeg with standard bit rate, but no way.

Doc, do you think the upgrade (modification) will be available as a patch that can be used with the present Plug-in ?

There are two patches for the DVD Plugin now. The first was for the NTI burning engine, but the latest is the DVD-R Power Patch. This adds not only DVD-R/RAM burning but also xVCD, xSVCD and several other features. TMPGEnc files import with no problems with it installed (12a and 12i).

Hi Doc,

Just as you say, the Ulead DVD Plug-in and TMPGEnc + the Ulead Power Patch work like a dream.

I have used a bit rate of 1400 (XVCD) with very good results. The description of the power
Patch by Ulead is rarther misleading.
