Win ME, MSPro 6 and G200 ??

    Win ME, MSPro 6 and G200 ??

    System: 1.4 GHz AMD Processor, 512 RAM Marvel G200 AGP UK card (RGB & S Video in) RGB, S Video and TV out). O/S Windows ME

    I have been running with my G200 card and Media Studio Pro 6 on Windows 95 on a 333MHz machine for some time with relatively few problems. I have just upgraded to a more modern machine with Windows ME (see above) and the "sky has dropped on my head". Now, when trying to capture video, the frame counter at the bottom of the screen is not smooth and jumps in counts of 100. When trying to playback the clips they are jerky. I have the latest drivers and vid tools as specified on the Matrox site.

    I am not sure if this is a pure MSPRO 6, Marvel G200, Windows ME or combination of everything problem. Is there a kind soul out there who has experienced this and knows the solution please? I am trying to complete a friends wedding video and may have to go back to my prehistoric Dell (God forbid).

    Hi spamnchips,

    could you be more specific about your system's specs ? (i.e. chipset, soundcard , hard disks etc)
    If it's a VIA based m/b have you installed the 4in1 drivers and then install the G200 drivers?
    Which program do you use for capturing? (have you tried avi_io?)
    A lot of people suggest win98/98se for NLE and not ME because ME is quite slower than 98 especially if system restore is active.

      Hi Mits,
      If by chipsets you mean the speed or type then the main processor is an AMD Athlon. The RAM is DDR SDRAM . There are 2X 256 DIMM modules fitted. The motherboard is a Epox, DDR 8KHA.

      Soundcard is a Soundblaster Live. I have the choice of an 8 GB or 40GB system drive (neither seems to make any difference) and another 40GB dedicated to video.

      I have been using MSPRO 6 for all of my capture and editing.

      From some other searches it would appear that the general consensus is to use Win 98SE, although when I tried it the problem still existed. Hence my concern that the G200 was not up to the CPU speed.

      Any comments will be greatly appreciated. I will also try AVO_IO.
