My choice is that people will finally understand that "Eye for Eye, Tooth for Tooth" does not solve anything. Before we start judging, let me remind you that not long ago, on August 6, 1945, at 8:15 am America erased an entire city (Hiroshima) from the face of Earth. 70'000 innocent civillian people died.
I don't understand what the hell these people are thinking. Do they think that they are untouchable or that Allah is going to place them by his side after their "honorable" death (presuming that they are from the middle east). I know that Bush may not be a economic wiz or he best public speaker, but I GUARANTEE that I wouldn't push him. He may be he leader of the "free" world, but he is also the Commander in Chief of the most powerful military in the world. He also believes in capitol punishmanet. Not someone I would pick a fight with.
I never realy experienced surrealistic feelings untill today. It was like watching a movie. This was definitely not expected. What worries me is that I don't think that this is the end. If you really think about it alot it is frightening. It is so easy to pull something like this off.
I feel that the airlines and the FAA are very much to be held responsible for the magnitude this act. How many bomb threats and hijackings have there been over the years? Yet they do not want to place security personnel on the aircraft because it will make the passengers uneasy. I personally would feel more at ease if I knew that there was atleast some line of defense. I mean a plane is nothing but an impenetrable, mobile hostage carrier that now can be a weapon of mass destruction.
The US stance on assassination is admirable on paper, but we are not dealing with a political leader of a sovereign nation. We are dealing with an animal that is obsessed with destroying the western world little by little. His own family disowned him for his psychotic behavior. After what we did for his country during the Gulf War, this is how he repays us.
I don't know how many of you know this, but his family built Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and it is an integral part of our operations in keeping Iraq in line. I wonder what would happen if Bin Laden was taken out. Saudi Arabia is not known for its military, that is why we are in place, but it could be an ugly situation.
None of those countrys over there particularly care for us, so it could be a co-conspired effort. If that part of the world ever joined together it would be pure madness. I heard that they are celebrating in the streets of Palestine and giving out candy. I also heard that Yasir Arrafat and Sadaam both called and expressed their sorrow and said that they did not do it. Talk about a divided section of the world. This region has been warring for hundreds of years and it looks like they are giong to stay that way for hundreds more. It almost seems genetic. I guess that if I lived in a big pile of sand and someone tried to take it from me I would defend it, but this is ridiculous. If this is a religious war then it's an oximoron. I always thought that religion was about raising one's spiritual and psychological being, but this is about being a hateful heathen and not allowing growth, but to be locked into an outdated senselessness that has had no good come from it. It's no wonder why they look forward to dying, things would have to be better after death. It's just sad.
Well enough sympathy for our poor deluged neighboors. I feel that it is time for justice to be served western style. We charish life and respect others. We will be open minded and fair. We will try to reconcile our differences in a civil manner. But when you F*** with us in our backyard you will be dealt with. If you look at history and see how we dealt with attacks on our home, we have a pretty outstanding record. Look at Pearl Harbor. Here we are talking about a little underground thug who doesn't even have the support of his home country or family. We wouldn't have to kill thousands of people here. I just can't fathom his thinking. He has got to be the most deranged idiot since Hitler. Thank God he does not have an entire nation behind him.
I am a very peaceful person. I would never wish or do harm to another, but I could kill this person with my bare hands. Without a doubt.
If we do not retaliate and do it in a stunning manner than we are just putting the "punk ass" sign on and opening the door to our country for a lot more of these organizations.
I am not a religious person, but my heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to all of the victims, families and citizens of our planet that are effected by this despiccable act of hate and cowardess.

Eye for an Eye DOES work.
Did Japan retaliate when we bombed them? No. When we "erased" their city they left us the hell alone.
Hell of a deterent, but I wouldn't want to be one of those that was made an example of. We are also talking about an entire nation at war as compared to an outcast lunatic terrorist. Different situation entirely.

Hamas, Husbullah, the Palestinian Authority et al share responsibility for this because of their institutionalizing a society based on terrorism. As such ALL OF THEM should be targeted for this atrocity; repeatedly and perpetually.

That was more like an Eye for your heart, lungs, brain, and liver. No wonder they couldnt fight back.
All I can say is that "An Eye for an Eye" worked really well in Ireland, the West Bank, Ruwanda, Yugoslovia...
But that is what we WANT. We don't want them to be able to fight back. I want the message out there that you can't f*** with us. We have been soft for too long.
And eye for an eye doesn't work in Ireland. etc because they go back and forth with petty action. Car bomb here, blow up a restaurant there. Real action is what we need.
I AM NOT DEFENDING THE PEOPLE WHO DID THIS. I am just trying to shed some light as to why we will not be "nuking", "killing them all" or obliterating them. It is not a politically correct thing. It is the right thing.
Trust me I understand your points of view. But, you cannot condemn an entire race for the actions of one or few. As for "taking them all out" isn't that similar to ethnic cleansing? Believe me I've been down in that part of the world more than I care to count and it sucks. But just because someone is a different culture, race, or has different beliefs does not make them all evil. They are just different. (Not right mind you)
I know that everyone is hurting right now. It shows how much you people care, but we can't lose our heads at times like this. Why don't we just go out and kill everyone who is Arab or Islam? I've met many of them and I can say that I don't personally care for many of them, but I do respect their lives. After you spend some time in another country and walk down the streets after a group of GI's raped a local girl, you can appreciate this thinking. You cannot punish one for another's actions.
Those who are responsible will be dealt with in a manner that is appropriate. I am as sure of this as I am sure that the sun will rise tomorrow. Yes we may be attacked or terrorised by others, but you cannot stereotype or just go around killing people because of what they may or may not do. What if a Black person just started killing every White person he saw because of the KKK? He would not be a hero, he would be condemned. Why is this different? We have to come up with better methods of prevention and detection.
I do agree that we have to do something about political affiliations and indifferences about terrorism. But that falls under a national or government issue. Not every person in a country agrees with his political leaders. Is everyone in Washington DC a crackhead? Is everyone in the US an unfaithful spouse?
And yes, I do have several friends that work at the Pentagon that I am not sure of their well being and yes I am worried.

Whereas I'm as shocked as all of you, I think this thread should be closed. We all say things in the heat of the moment that we may regret later and I sense that many of the posts here may fall in that category.
Let those of us who are religious (of whatever faith) just shut up for a few days and pray for Divine guidance to find out what He would have us say and not what our emotions, in turmoil, dictate. We badly need God's Love in this moment, not bitter hatred.
Let those of us who do not believe in God search our inner thoughts and our love for our fellow humans and let our feelings cool down before any more pronouncements.
We have only to look around this world to see that tit-for-tat actions simply do not work. We, as intelligent human beings, should be above this raw revenge - unfortunately we are not.
You may think that it is all very well for me, in my little island, to say this but I am not in the thick of things. Oh! but I am! I sit on a UN panel and in another UN committee and one of my dear colleagues had her offices in the WTC. I only pray she was on a mission yesterday and that she was spared the horror of all this mayhem, from wherever it originated (note that I am not jumping to conclusions).
So, please, please, please, reflect and don't say anything further.
