  • whopping frame drops in 2000!!

I dont understand what I am doing wrong. It never used to do this. I recently updated to service pack 2 for win 2000. Yes I have the directx 8.0a and the video capture update from direct X too. I also updated my matrox g400 drivers from 5.52 to 5.71.014 recently. I use a hauppauge card and virtualdub to capture video and nowadays when I cap for long periods of time, every 30 miuntes or so there will be a sudden drop of frames at once. Itll drop about 100-200 for a few seconds and then stop dropping for about 20 minutes and and drastically drop again. When I play the video back, that section of the video will be frozen with sound then it will resume with the video and sound out of sync. I have used other programs and same results. I have tried turning on and off the timing and stuff in virtualdub but it doesnt help the frame drops. Can someone pleasssssssssse help me??????

    Some possible causes:

Do you have "S.M.A.R.T." ensabled for your hard drives?
How about power management, screen saver?
    Background file indexing?
    Network client/RAS binding?

    Just my 2 Eurocents worth...
Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.
