Any opinions on new Panasonic PV-DV701 or 351?
Still haven't gotten my new dv camcorder. I had settled on the PV-DV601, but it seems to be out of stock at all the reputable web dealers -- and the prices have gone way up. So -- I'm wondering about these new units, the PV-DV351 and PV-DV701. I know they don't have as big a zoom lens, but the 701 was a 3.5" screen and a special low light mode. Don't know if this mode is better than, worse than or the same as the JVC Night Alive thing.
Doc, you mentioned the PV-DV351 to someone in another thread. As you seem to have some Panasonic experience, I'd really like your opinion on these.
I inquired on another board and they seemed to think that they were cheezy compared to the 401 and 601. However, the guys on that site seem to be mostly focused on very high end equipment, so there needs and expectations are probably way above mine. I just want to film events for family and friends and see where (if anywhere) I can go from there.
