  • My PC-VCR captures with different fps, WHY?

The capture settings in my PC-VCR (VT 1.52)are: MJPEG 704x576 25 fps but I recently discovered that my Marvel G400 captures with a wide range of fps, all from 24.411 to 25.051 or so. It happens from the same source (ie a TV channel)and at the same time with very short delay between the captures.

Can anybody tell me why or if it is normal?

I've been so surprised that I didn't tested other capture programs, only the PC-VCR, before asking this question, here.

...but now I tested with Ulead MSP6 VideoCapture. Stable 25.000 fps every capture, so I continue to ask. What is wrong with the PC-VCR captured fps ?
Should I convert any wrong captured fps to 25 fps ?

I have found the same with my RRS . I now only use AVI_IO or MSPRO capture these days for that reason. From the small amout of testing that I have done with MSPRO6 it does not like having the clip properties ie FPS different from the project settings. From memory it wanted to re-render everything back to 25FPS. If I were you I would forget about the Matrox capture modual and use the one IN MSPRO

        Thanks, PaulW.
Your answer made me realize that the fault is not in my own Marvel G400. Nice to know, but the PC-VCR does other strange things too, i.e. it captures with Frame based not Field order B setting, as adviced by Matrox in the VTools Readme.txt, and other experts.
I allways used the Field order B in my MSP6 video edit, until now, but the Frame based gave me better results, though.
