  • Adjusting colour balance on capture?

    Help!
How can I adjust the colours when capturing using Matrox G400 Marvel?

I'm capturing from DVD via S-Video connector (PAL). The colours are very lifless, not at all vibrant like the source.

I can't sort it using the brightness/contrast/hue/saturation adjusters in the PC-VCR settings panel.

I get the same when using other capture programmes using the Marvel.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Nezza42

    "The colours are very lifless"
Please explain ? more if i get this wrong
I think i know what you mean though the Defaults looked dark so you increased
the brightness and that when the colours went flat, lifeless ? yes

Much of the problem may be the PC monitor
try Capturing with default brightness/contrast/hue/saturation then playback the avi though the TV out
Compere DVD to the TV out

If you just want it to look better on the PC use a Gama filter like "levels" after capturing

Thanx for answering, but the problem isn't when I view on PC.

I am viewing the image on the TV (TV out enabled). I am using the composite video hooked to my TV and the picture displayed is very bland in comparison to the vibrant original!.

      Cheers

I use the default settings (PAL) myself with a slightly increased saturation.

If you want to find the optimum capture settings for your PC , I recommend you use VirtualDub. Load one of your clips, and experiment a bit with the "levels" filter. Check if your brightness values cover the entire range 0..255. If not, adjust your settings and capture again.
Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.
