  • File sizes balloon in Win2K w/ MJPEG patch

I am testing with windows 2000 (sp2, and all patches, directx 8.0, etc). Latest Powerdesk and Vid Tools, with the MJPEG/YUY2 patch available here.

When I capture with avi_io using the same format that I do with win98SE, the size of the capture is extremely large.

For example, I capture with the Matrox MJPEG codec. 704x480, high quality. The size per second should be 2.930, as it is with windows 98se.

When I capture with these settings in 2K, a 20 second capture turns out to be 500MB. On 98SE, a capture with the same settings is much less, less than 100MB

Are there any known issues with the patch made available here?

    thanks,
    terry

    edit: To be more specific:
    VT 2.04, PD 5.39, Patch Flying D's Yuy2w2k.
The audio in the capture is fine, but lines are introduced on the horizontal when there are moving objects in the picture.

    Hi Terry,

this has been reoprted by others also. I'm trying to figure out why it doesn't happen on my system. A possible difference might be that I had the "leaked" drivers installed before upgrading to the "release" drivers. I'm currently looking into that...
Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.

Interesting, it would be great if you could point me in the direction of the "leaked" drivers.

If there are any Windows 2000 tests you'd like me to try, please let me know (terryquinto@yahoo.com). I'm building my new system soon, so I wouldn't mind "breaking" this one in the name of testing
