Some more information to report regarding the ATI DV Wonder and our new 1.7Ghz Pentium 4 Dell 8100 Dimension system:
We're going to swap out the SoundBlaster Live for a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz this afternoon.
I just tested a Sony DCR-TRV900 with 48khz, 16bit audio using the DV Wonder.
1. Output to tape: FLAWLESS
2. Batch capture: FLAWLESS
3. Device Control: FLAWLESS
The news regarding the Sony DCR-VX1000 may relate to the SoundBlaster Live.
Using the SoundBlaster Live, we have experienced some intermittent, yet serious popping noises during some scrubbing and some output sequences that we believe are related to the DCR-VX1000's exclusive reliance on 32Khz, 12-bit audio.
The Sony DCR-TRV900 captures, on the other hand, yield none of these symptoms... even with the SoundBlaster Live.
The TRV900 captures scrub perfectly and output perfectly. It's amazing.
The Sony DCR-VX1000, sadly, does not provide one the option of using 48Khz, 16-bit audio. So we can't switch the setting.
We'll report on how we get this ironed out.
But - I would emphasize I do not believe the DCR-VX1000 captures have anything to do at all with the ATI DV Wonder.
We suspect it's the SoundBlaster... or a software setting.
Batch capturing, device control and timeline playback using the VX1000 are perfect.
