Big plus, settings work for both MPEG and DV playback! Good thing, as the new powerdesk requires even more mouse clicks to change them.

Big minus "Always Scale To Full Screen" seems to have no effect, which appears to break WinDVD 2000 SVCD playback out the DVDmax. I've pretty given up on SVCD due to lack of compatability in stand-alone players and the fact I've ordered a DVD burner. But why can't these guys fix one thing without breaking another?

Wait! 5.71 appears to break all modes of WinDVD playback, DVD disk, VCD and SVCD files. Display doesn't fill the TV screen and junk from previous media player palybacks (which did fill the screen) or green blocks are visible "in the borders".

To add a little info, PowerDVD 2.55 seems to work fine, plays VCD, SVCD, DV avi, and DVDs.

I see ocassional "stutters" or "freeze frame" like glitches in the intro pan on Madona's Girlie Show DVD (its what I had laying around) I switched to WinDVD because I didn't think PowerDVD was very good, although I like its feature set.

Are the glitches DVDmax or PowerDVD. Guess I'll have to dig out the Ravisent Cinemaster player I have around here somewhere.
