Hi all,
Setup as follows: G400 Marvel, ASUS P3B-F, PIII 850, 256mb RAM, 90gb (3 x IBM30gb75GXP) RAID array on FT100 and Santa Cruz.
Over the last few months I've done several re-installs of Win2k and Win98 and I always notice how "smooth" (low useage of IO buffers and steady increase in frame count in AVI_IO) capture with Win2k is UNTIL I installed DirectX8 (or 8a and/or the capture patch). After which there's a noticable increase in the IO buffs and the frame counts becomes jerky, especially when using PicVideoMJPEG @ Q20. Sometime AVI_IO quits because buffers are full...! Also I get more frame drops than I do with "bare" Win2K SP2 install (DX7).
I don't get the same problem with Win98 using DX8 - if anything I'd say it's slightly better than DX7...
Any ideas?
Rob.
