  • which miniDV camera?

    Hi there,

I have following models at offer - Panasonic NV-DS12EG, Canon MV300 and Canon MV400. Panasonic is the cheapest, Canon's are about the same price (about 15% higher than Panasonic). I'd like to use it as typical home user, connect it to PC and edit video (nothing special). I'm little concerned about optical quality and overall reliability.

    Which one could someone recommend?

My wife bought the MV450i during the summer and I am quite impressed by it. The lens seems to be very good. Good battery life and quite good stills photo capability (you can use it as a digital stills camera or capture stills from recorded video). It uses one of the newer memory formats (MMD? - can't remember!!)Haven't seen/used the Panasonic so can't compare.

I have 3 Panasonics and one Canon Elura. I use the Panasonics most times, but the Elura is nice because of its tiny size when "stealthing".

I just got a sharp and love it. It was the cheepest MiniDV I found. 399.99 at CostCo. Not sure how it compares to the others mentioned but it does what I want. Take movies, has a few cool options and works well with my computer.
