  • Comparisons against RT2x00?

    Hello,

Has anyone run any comparison of MPEG encoding against the RT2x00 series? I am interested in quality of devices as well as their ability to work with Ulead MSP6.5.

    Thank you

Just a FYI, this is one of the better comparisons:

That review is horibly outdated, since then the RT2000 has received numorous upgrades and code changes that allowed for better Mpeg-2 IBP encoding.

MVT 3.1 is an example of that.

Yes, but realtime encoding of MPEG at capture never does achieve what encoding MPEG from the timeline can. This is true even when using DV sources from the RT-2x000's timeline, due mostly to the RT-2x000's compositing engine.

I've heard that a lot recently. What gets me is that when I see the finished product, it looks really good. If the resulting files get sent out through a hardware decoder (Dxr3, Hollywood+, etc), they look like they came from the original. That may just be my opinion.

Just tinkering around right now, but I noticed that MSP6.5 can handle MPEG files quite a bit better than previously done.
