  • Problems with VirtualDub and MSP 6.0

    Hi all,
    strange things happen with VirtualDub and MSP 6.0.
    When an avi file is processed (or direct-streamed) with VDub (ver 1.4d) and then imported to MSP 6.0 the preview is no longer working. I get an error:
    "Multiple file playback error. Preparation failure. [19205:9:1] ".
    When the same files are imported to MSP 6.0 (without being processed by Vdub) then the preview is working fine.
    All the files have been captured with avi_io using the Matrox RRICM codec.
    When the files are processed with Vdub the output files are again compressed with the Matrox codec.

    [System Specs]
    PIII 500MHz, 320 MB RAM, Millennium II with RRS (yes the old one), Maxtor DMax+ 40 30GB capture drive

    [Part of my Ulead32.ini]
    [HardwareACC]
    ;HwCodecID=dmb1
    DisableAcc1=1
    RecompressWhenScrubbing=1
    DirectAccessDVAudio=1
    NotSaveOpenDML=1
    AviPlayEngineMCI=1

    [VCAP4_CAPTURE]
    DisableDriverBeforePlayback=1

    [Nav]
    QuickPlay=0

    [Playback]
    RenderAudio=1
    PlayDll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\RAINBO~1\ICutlist.dl l
    PlayDll7=U32mpb.dll
    PlayDll8=U32mpbm.dll
    PlayDll9=Upbplug2.dll

    The only solution that i have found till now is to disable the line
    PlayDll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\RAINBO~1\ICutlist.dl l
    in my ulead32.ini but this has the drawback of not being able to frame backward or forward in preview mode.

    Any help or ideas will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    depending on you settings in ulead32.dat in combination with the fact that Matrox driver will not work on the OpenDML compliant version of .AVI files, this error might happen.

    You disabled to create those in your ulead32.ini and enabled the matrox timeline player instead, which is ok. But if you import such an .avi, you're in trouble.

    You can omit this easiest if you create an "old .avi" with VD or a "segmented .avi" in case it is bigger than 2 GB, which you all include sequatially in the timeline.
    Best Regards,
    Karlson.

      ;PlayDll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\RAINBO~1\ICutlist.d ll

      That should fix the problem

        Correct SciaScia,

        but using the matrox dll results in a much smoother
        playback from the timeline, especially if you want to
        record on tape.

        I prefer SVCD and thus disabled it also.
        Best Regards,
        Karlson.

          Karlson,
          thanks but i've already tested it with both avi 1.0 (old format) and avi2.0 (OpenDML) and there is no difference (i.e. i get the same error). The funny thing is that if i select uncompressed from VDub then the imported file in MSP is rendered thru MJPG and is played back perfectly.

          Sciascia,
          thanks but as you can see in my original post the problem disabling the line with the Icutlist.dll results in problematic frame by frame advancing in the preview window.
