g400 + xp + 5.72 drivers?

i tried the altered ini trick to get these to install. they do install, but i cant capture. i start capping with avi io and it says setting up for capture please wait, and then goes straight to hit escape or press to end capture. it doesnt actually start capping. if i install the 5.39 drivers straight after this, i can cap just fine. what's up with that?

Running xp with g400 tv.
No matter what I do I can't get the vid tools running in X. P. I've tried all combinations of all drivers and vid tools (not tools prior to win 2k though). Got the hack for the 5.72 drivers, and card is running fine and recognized as a Marvel g400 agp with the 5.72 drivers.
Cannot get 204 tools to install.
Installation wizard just stops working and comes up with the message saying
"machine not modified . Have tried compatibility mode for both win 2K and win 98".
Beta vid tools used to start ok with 539 drivers but would not shut down , sound still running and resulted in having to pull the plug on the machine.

Now with 5.72 drivers I get the message that Video editing hardware is not available. I am set to 16 bit.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated I need the card because
I use the digital output daughter card with my view sonic flat panel display

not exactly like mine. my vt install fine no matter what i do, the tv works as well. it's just capping with the 72 drivers that dont work. everything works fine with the 39 ones.

i am in 32 bit btw.

what ver of xp are you using? 2600? pro? home?

I wonder what is blpcking the installation of vt final for me. any way to force it and use the old drivers I would be happy.

did you do a clean install or an upgrade? cos i upgraded from 2k and i had the vt's and 5.39 drivers installed then. maybe that's why i can install them.

I did an upgrade, but I had the Beta drivers and VT installed.

Just went back to the 539 drivers..
card is working but still cannot install VT.

Beta VT work fine But won't shup down and keep sunnibg in task manager (sound keeps playing too)

Want to buy a cheap g400TV?

5.72 + vtools 2.04.015 (FINAL OFFICIAL)
This works fine for me.
Capture YUY2 in Avi_IO or Virtual Dub (Mjpg soft ok with last Morgan 3 too).
Dual Head also works well.

i havent tried the yuv capping with the 72 drivers. i wont bother trying either since i dont use software caping. i use the 39 and final vt's to get hw mjpeg capping working perfectly (i cap at least an hour pretty much every day, sometimes more) for a few weeks and no probs at all. what i would like is to get the hardware capping working with the 72 drivers.

Any idea why I can't install v204 toold? Installer just quits and says it was interrupted before completion.

Disabled anti-virus & firewall no effect. of course running as admin.


downloaded fresh version, no difference.

How do I force it to install??

I took what I would call a big step (rather a giant leap) and installed XP final on my computer today (or tonight if you like). I've got the same problem here.

Drivers installed without a problem (which scared the he** out of me actually), but when I tried to install the VT... well, no go. Sad but true. I've also tried leaked drivers without any luck.

It just hangs and after a while I get a message that says the installation was interupted and the system is unchanged.

Just for fun I tried running avi_io and got a message that the capturing device (matrox wfm driver or something like that) was in use.

If anyone's got a solution I'd REALLY like to hear about it

At least this is actually the only "problem" I've encountered so far and I still have w2k. The fact that TV out worked came as a surprise to me and i DO like surprises like that

I'm still pissed of at Matrox for not making drivers for this card and OS and the fact that they don't care a bit about all their customers
