For all who suffer from the "Installshield Wizard Interrupted" message when trying to install Vidtools 204, here´s the solution.
Go here http://home.planet.nl/~editor and follow the link to Matrox Video Tools 204 WISE . Unlike the Installshield Wizard, the WISE installer DOES work under XP.

Doesn't work

the solution in http://home.planet.nl/~editor doesn't work for me. It lets me install the tools, but when I try to enter the reg file the system doesn't allow me to do it. I even tried in safe mode but it's the same. Without that, the toold don't work, it gives me a Hardware not found error.

What´s the error message when you try to enter the reg file?
When I installed it, I received a message that not all registry keys could be modified, because they were in use at the moment, but the tools worked anyway on my system, so I decided to publish the package.

It says the file is not an actual registry file. I attached the box with the message to avoid typing it.

I Had the same message, but just ignored it and it installed ok and works fine.

BTY is there a way to do TV Vid caps with the final vid tools?

I downloaded the reg file again in case the original was damaged and this time I got a different error, which you can see in the attached file, and when I try to run the video tools I get an error saying that the hardware is not available.

Here is the sequence of the install:

Instruction:

-install video drivers
-reboot
-resize to 16bit/800x600 or higher

-run this .exe as admin
-run regedt32
highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum
click on Securities/Permissions, add everyone to "full control"
-2x click on the .reg file. (this will install all vt services. Wise is not capable of this )
-reboot

If I had money, I would sue Matrox for their arrogant attitude of not supporting XP for this card, since many people, myself included, bought it this year, from their online store. Besides, they're not supporting it because they're just lazy sons of bitches that don't care enough for their customers to enter two lines in one of the installation files of drivers 5.72 to recognize the Marvel, and a slightly modified installation file for the video tools.
The arrogance of this company is beyond belief, but at least I get my little revenge, I have to buy a good capture card soon in the style of the Matrox RT2500, and I will go for the Pinnacle similar model, because I don't want to give Matrox one more dime of my money.
