  • When to crop with Divx 4.xx

I capture TV shows using Huffy in 704x576 PAL and then de-interlace and resize them to 512x384. If I am to crop the video to remove black bars from sides and top and garbage lines at the bottom when should I do this? before or after resizing? If I do it before resizing should I stick to multiples of 8 or 16 even though it will be resized to 512x384 before processing? I always use bicubic (-.75) in virtualdub so does this need certain multiples of input file size to work correctly or does it not matter? Thanks.

im not familiar with v-dub to much except to join files and re-synch but why not clean it up during the resize process?
i think matrox cards need multiples of 32 to output correctly and in divx 4.02 it does this automatically.
LOL im not a lot of help here but why are getting garbage at the bottom(macrovision?).

      What I usually do is:
      Deinterlace
      Crop
      Resize
      Noise cleanup filters

That way I can crop just what I need to crop and not have to worry about cropping a certain amount. Also when sizing down you should be using one of the bilinear methods; bicubic is better for sizing up.
