DIVX - poor quality
Hi,
I captured some video from a Hi8 to MJPEG at full PAL resolution (704x576). Tried to encode it to DIVX with VirtualDub, tried various settings (low/high motion,smoothness/crispness etc.) but the resulting quality is far below DIVX movies I own, which even has lower resolution. The source video is interlaced, so I deinterlace it with the Smart Deinterlace filter (blend mode). I have those irritating blocks (artifacts) only at 2000kbps+ video bitrate its acceptable, but then the files get too large. How can it be that the movies I have ( that are encoded at 700/800kbps ) are much cleaner and with no artifacts at all , while I have poor quality at a higher resolution + higher bitrate ??? please help me out if u can.....
